Students and staff were celebrating at Fakenham Academy this morning as A-level results were shared.
The market town school opened its doors on August 17 as hopeful teenagers came to find out how they got on with their exams earlier this year, and what comes next for them.
One of those waiting to find out was Mollie Davis, who was celebrating after she found out she gained one A* and two A’s in her A-levels and A in her extended project qualification.
Mollie is going to King's College London to study neuroscience.
She said: “At Fakenham Sixth Form I loved that there was always the opportunity to go above and beyond in my studies - reading into the parts of my subjects that ignited the reason I shall be studying neuroscience.
“The teachers were always willing to answer anyone’s “random” question, beginning amazing debates and creating a rich and exciting learning environment.”
Cariad Roberts gained two Distinctions* and one A. Cariad is going to the University of Portsmouth to study nursing.
She said: “I am very pleased with my A-level results. These were the first real exams I have ever taken so I am relieved to get these results. I am looking forward to studying to become a nurse.
Daniel Harrowing gained Distinction*, A* and B marks. Daniel said: “I am very happy with my grades, these allow me to go into Loughborough University where I will be studying computer science and maths.
“Fakenham Sixth Form was great and really challenged me to get the grades I needed with amazing support.
Gavin Green, headteacher at Fakenham Academy, added: “Congratulations to our Year 13 students receiving their results today. As a cohort, they have faced significant challenges and have overcome these with determination and endeavour.
“Overall, our Year 13’s have bucked the national picture, with grades largely in line, or higher, than last year, despite the national realignment.
"We wish all of our Year 13 pupils every future success and happiness.”
