He is known for his massive burgers, but now Chris Esposito is launching something he hopes will be a 'smash' hit.

The Fakenham snack bar owner has announced the arrival of the Espo Smash burger and skin-on fries, which will hit the grill on September 2 at two 'pop-up' stalls in the market town.

Mr Esposito said the Smash would not replace anything from his current range such as the Espo-Mac burger, and hot dogs, which are created with meat supplied by Papworth Butchers - he said he wanted to offer something different for customers. Fakenham & Wells Times: Chris Esposito, owner of Esposito’s Snack Bar in Fakenham, with the Espo Mac burgerChris Esposito, owner of Esposito’s Snack Bar in Fakenham, with the Espo Mac burger (Image: Aaron McMillan)

Mr Esposito said: “We are focusing on a premium quality piece of beef, making the burger in-house covered in all our own seasonings.

“We are all very excited about the Espo Smash, and we are pleased that people are welcoming us into their areas to sell our goods.

Mr Esposito said the new burgers were "something unique" for a snack bar.

He said: “No-one does the fresh skin-on fries either, people will actually see the potatoes chipped in front of them and put into our newly-installed fryer.

“You cannot get them anywhere nearby, and we like to offer people unique experiences. We don’t want to copy people, we like to be unique.”

People will be able to try the Smash on Saturday (September 2) from 8am to midday at Graham Plumbers Merchant on Enterprise Way, and then outside Toolstation from 3pm to 7pm.

The smash burger is made by taking a loosely rolled-up piece of minced beef and slamming it onto the grill - before smashing it with something.

Mr Esposito uses a specially-made spatula to get the desired effect. The meat is supplied by Graves Herbert butchers in Briston.
