A mobile post office has returned to a north Norfolk village after a two-week break.

Walsingham Parish Council and the Post Office said a new mobile service was due start back up in the village on Wednesday, September 27.

The previous service was temporarily ceased back on September 13 due to "operational issues".

Keith Tuck, a Walsingham parish councillor, said: “It is terrific news for the village to see that the Post Office van is returning to provide a much-valued service missed by many.”

The new service will be operated from near the war memorial by the postmaster from the Great Massingham post office.

To accommodate the extra service, the postmaster has made some changes to the current opening hours at East Rudham, Thornham, Brancaster, Field Dalling, Weybourne, Baconsthorpe and Harpley.

Wendy Hamilton, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are pleased to be quickly restoring service to Walsingham. We thank the postmaster for Great Massingham for adding Walsingham to the existing mobile Post Office service.”
