A Norfolk council has identified homes it will buy to help house refugees and homeless people.
North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) has selected four homes it wants to buy as part of a government-backed scheme.
Three of the properties will be initially used to help resettle Afghan refugees and one will provide accommodation for homeless households.
Where the homes will be has not been revealed.
Some £560,000 for the project has come from the government, with a further £640,000 coming from the council.
While three of the properties will initially be used to house refugees, it is expected they will also be used to help homeless households in the long term.
At a meeting on Monday, NNDC’s cabinet agreed to pursue the four homes.
The cabinet heard that they had tried to find an option that would allow them to deliver the properties with affordable housing provider Flagship Homes, which would take on future management and maintenance costs, reducing the risks for the authority.
However, Flagship is only able to take on new build properties, which the council has been unable to find at a reasonable price, leaving NNDC to take on the homes itself.
