He has been running a market town chippy for more than four years - now Andrew Felton is broadening his ownership as he takes over a cocktail bar and bistro-style restaurant.

Mr Felton, owner of Drifters Fish and Chips in Fakenham, is the new leaseholder of the Red Lion Lounge in the town centre.

He said the restaurant was a logical next step as he had wanted to diversity the range of food he served.

Mr Felton said: “I thought I would venture into something more diverse than just fish and chips, and somewhere like the Red Lion Lounge seemed perfect.

“I’ve been looking at doing this for a little while and this opportunity popped up about six weeks ago, so it's been rather fast, but hoping I can really make something of it.

“I’ve got a great team in both Drifters and the Red Lion, now I’m just excited to get to work.”

He went on to become manager and then owner of the business.

Mr Felton said he was not “hoovering up" heritage-listed buildings, and it was a coincidence that both buildings he was now operating had protected status.

New items at the restaurant include burgers, a children's menu, desserts, roast dinners, breakfast and brunch.

There are also plans for themed nights and a New Year’s Eve murder mystery party, themed around the hit BBC show, Faulty Towers.

Mr Felton said his long-term goal was to launch a delivery service for all the food and drink sold at the restaurant.
