David Holliday of Moon Gazer Ale embarks on beer barrel challenge

It will likely be Moon Gazer Ale co-owner David Holliday, who is trundling 186 miles around the county to raise awareness of testicular cancer and Norfolk cancer charity, It's On The Ball.

Mr Holliday, 58, started the challenge on October 1, planning to be on the road with his 75kg keg for seven days.

He said it had been tough going so far.

Mr Holliday said: "It's a longer distance every day, the body is feeling it, and Norfolk is far from flat,” he said.

 “My heart rate is going up to 130 beats per minute, so it has been a challenge.

"But the feet are still blister-free and still going - and after tomorrow it will feel like the home stretch."

Moon Gazer - which is based in Hindringham, between Fakenham and Wells - has partnered with the charity for the challenge, for which Mr Holliday hopes to raise £35,000.

The challenge includes a fundraising event on each evening such as quizzes and bingo nights.

Mr Holliday said he had heard some inspirational stories along the way.

He said: “We were coming through Horsford a woman stepped out of a car and was in tears as her husband just finished a course of chemo.

"When you hear the story of how grateful he was to It's On The Ball, I don’t want to be over sentimental but this is real. 

"I go through a bit of pain, but nothing to what that family has gone through, it brings it down to earth and makes you proud that people appreciate what we are doing.”
