A popular Norfolk car boot sale may close sooner than expected.

The Cherry Tree Car Boot in Fakenham extended its trading season by a month to the end of October, but a drop in footfall over the last few weeks may see it close sooner than that.

Brian and Gill Berry, who run the event, said: “Even though the weather has been so good so far in October, booters and especially visitors are dropping off, apart from our loyal regular booters and visitors whose support has been amazing.”

“This year we tried to finish earlier but people asked us to continue as usual. It's not definite at the moment if we will continue to the end of October.”

Mr and Mrs Berry have owned the site for over 15 years and despite this drop in trade over the last few weeks, it has been the best year post-pandemic.

“This has been a better year for us post-Covid," they said.

"The weather at the weekends has been kind and we do our best to accommodate both booters and visitors.

“However, this year has brought us many happy, friendly punters and we really appreciate the support of our regular booters and visitors.”

This Saturday the temperature will drop to around 4 degrees over night before rising to 10 degrees during the day on Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Berry said they would let people know when the final car boot of the year would be on their Facebook page.
