After falling in love with Norfolk, a couple with a well-earned reputation in the wine industry is opening a shop in the county.

Kevin and Marta Mateus-Bowers are opening VinedMe at Walsingham on Thursday, October 26.

The pair are hosting a wine fair on Sunday, October 29 with all money from the ticket sales going to the fund to help rebuild the village hall which burned down earlier this year.

They wanted to open a new arm of the business in a county they love.

“We would visit Norfolk three or four times a year and love it, and never wanted to leave,” Mr Bowers said.

"We already feel so welcomed with people popping cards through the door, sticking their heads in and caring about what we are doing.”

“We know that the wine trade can seem quite ‘sniffy’, but that is not our style, we are looking to be welcoming, always have a bottle open and help people understand why certain wines go better than others.”

The shop will sell over 300 wines imported from across the world, and also interesting spirits and beers from Norfolk at the refurbished unit.

A few tickets remain for their debut event, with plans to host another before Christmas.

Looking ahead to next year, events in the shop’s garden with food trucks and live music are on the agenda.

The couple first met during their time at university and both completed a year abroad in the Netherlands before a mutual friend reconnected them through MSN messenger years after graduating.
