A Fakenham barber shop has proven to be a cut above the rest in Norfolk.

Gatsby’s Barbers has been celebrating after staff travelled down to Cambridge as finalists in the England Business Award Norfolk section.

The market town business, owned by Carol McCubbin, was voted the county’s best barbers, as the team of six along with her husband Zak, put on their glam rags for the presentation at the Belfry Hotel.

"I genuinely was so overwhelmed when I received the letter of nomination I never thought I’d actually win. Getting nominated and having clients support us was always enough.”

Mrs McCubbin has been involved with Gatsby’s since 2010. After joining the team, a year later when she was just 22 she bought the shop on the town’s Bridge Street from Micheal Fanthorpe.

The business award is all decided by the public, with both nominations and votes coming from them.

It’s not been an easy ride these last few years but as a team, we’ve stuck together.

"Thank you ladies for helping me shape Gatsby’s into what it is today.

"Thank you to the Fakenham community for always being so encouraging and supporting a barber shop with the same premises for over 90 years. I can’t wait to keep growing Gatsby’s, helping and supporting everyone who walks through its doors.

"It's amazing to share it with my children Lola and Nancy, not only doing it for their future but when two little girls are watching it keeps pushing me forward to do better."
