A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a crash on a major route linking two Norfolk towns.

Police were called to reports of a head-on, two-vehicle accident on the A1065 Swaffham Road between Swaffham and Fakenham on Sunday.

The crash happened at 12.41pm and involved a Mitsubishi carrying two people and a VW Polo carrying five.

One man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving and was taken to King's Lynn police station for questioning.

He has since been released while the investigation continues.

Two people were hurt in the crash, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

The road was blocked at South Raynham while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the accident.

Three fire engines, from Massingham, Fakenham and Swaffham, went to the scene and firefighters helped release people from the wreckage using hydraulic equipment.
