Parts of Norfolk battling floods will have to wait until next week for a respite from wet conditions.

The Met Office has forecast rain to continue into the weekend even after Storm Ciarán has passed over the region.

Despite a dry start in the early hours of Saturday morning it is expected that 'persistent' rain will begin between 8am and 9am.

This will likely fragment into lighter showers in the afternoon but the skies will remain predominantly cloudy.

There will be drier conditions overnight into Sunday although some showers are still expected in north Norfolk during the day.

Parts of Norfolk are battling the "worst flooding in years" as businesses have been forced to close and pubs are left accessible only by boat.

The county will see the driest weather in the country heading into Monday and Tuesday which will offer a brief moment for areas worst hit by flooding to recover.

However, The Met Office warned that significant rain and windy conditions could return to the region as soon as Wednesday.
