An award-winning holiday park is launching a trailblazing static caravan where guests can stay "fossil fuel-free".
Pinewoods Holiday Park in Wells-next-the-Sea has bought an all-electric caravan, equipped with a charging point for electric vehicles, an electric barbecue, and access to e-bikes.
The caravan, made by Willerby, will be the first of its kind in East Anglia.
Darren Williams, general manager at Pinewoods, said: “These can realistically be slotted in to replace existing gas-powered holiday homes in most parks.
"Pinewoods has plenty of provision to take on more of these holiday homes over the next few years and we look forward to a continued journey with Willerby.”
The caravan park is owned by Holkham Estate, which aims to be 'carbon negative' by 2040.
Sue Penlington, the estate's sustainability manager, said: “We have been working on decarbonising visitor travel to Holkham including cycle hire, an electric bus which links the beach to the town and increasing the number of electric vehicle chargers across the park and estate.
“It’s really exciting to be able to tie this together as a fossil fuel-free holiday at Pinewoods which I know will be popular with our eco-conscious guests.”
The caravan features electric central heating and a state-of-the-art thermal hot water system.
It sleeps up to six people, is dog friendly, and will be found in a newly redeveloped and landscaped area of the park, featuring a wrap-around deck overlooking a lake.
The caravan will be available from the 2024 season, with three nights starting from £620 and seven nights starting from £848.
The caravan park has received a 'Gold Accolade' from Visit England.
