New signs have been installed at a busy junction in Mid-Norfolk.

Two Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) have been installed on the A148 Fakenham to King’s Lynn Road on either side of the B1454 junction.

The signs are designed to flash with a Slow Down legend superimposed with a Turning Traffic legend to warn approaching drivers of the junction.

County councillor, Tom FitzPatrick, said: “I am delighted to have been able to work with the local Highways team to have these flashing signs installed at this busy junction.

“The signs will both warn drivers approaching on the main road to slow down as well as warning when there is traffic approaching on the two side roads.

"I look forward to these improvements making a real contribution to improving safety at this busy junction.”

The signs are solar-powered and there are also thermal sensors installed for each of the two side roads.

These sensors comprise wide-angle thermal cameras for vehicle detection on the side roads.

Funding for these improvements has come from the County Highways budget plus funding from the Casualty Reduction Team and the local council member’s budget.
