McDonald’s has spoken for the first time regarding potential plans to build a new site in Norfolk.

In October, the business submitted a request for pre-application advice to North Norfolk District Council for the potential development of a new restaurant on land just south of Fakenham's Lidl supermarket, off Holt Road.

It was unknown if this will lead to plans being submitted, but McDonald’s has commented for the first time - setting its sights on a formal application.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We are always looking to bring our popular food closer to even more communities and Fakenham is a location where we’d like to see a new branch developed. We look forward to progressing conversations around this site, with the ambition of submitting an application in early 2024.”

Earlier this week, in an email sent to a member of the public, the restaurant claimed that around 120 new jobs would be created if the plans go ahead.

Since it was first reported, opinion has been split, from both members of the public and councillors other McDonald's arrival in Fakenham.
