South Creake hit by flooding after river bursts its banks

Large areas of South Creake were hit by flooding from the River Burn as its levels rose.

The B1355 Burnham Road that goes through the village has also been closed causing local bus services to be cancelled.

Fire crews have been in the area to assist with a stranded flooded car as well as to offer general assistance to residents of affected properties.

Mike Harvey, 80, who lives in the village, said: “It’s not surprising, it’s been raining for quite a few days.

“It doesn’t bother me but for someone that’s got to go to work it’s a pain.”

The ford that runs through the village is also completely submerged.

The flooding comes after a period of severe weather that caused the Met Office to issue multiple warnings for rain and wind as Storm Henk battered the county.
