Although most of Norfolk will miss out on the deluge of snow predicted to land across the UK today, some parts of the county may still see wintry showers.

A yellow weather warning for snow is currently in place from the north of England to Peterborough as an Arctic blast moves south from Scotland.

Despite the warning not affecting Norfolk, the Met Office has said more remote coastal regions could still see some snowfall, with the King's Lynn area having the highest chance of seeing the white stuff.

WX Charts, which uses Metdesk weather data, has predicted that a band of 2cm per hour of snow will cover King's Lynn and Hunstanton at around 3pm today.

It comes as temperatures could plummet to as low as 1C with the arrival of the cold front.

By around 8pm the snow will have moved off the coast and be swept north by prevailing winds.

Met Office meteorologist Amy Bokota said that most places would see a return to milder conditions by the end of Thursday.

“It will be quite a short-lived cold snap for much of the UK, but continuing on a little bit longer through parts of northern England and Scotland into the early hours of Friday and the start of the weekend," she said.
