French's has been selling fish and chips for more than 100 years and was originally opened by William Thomas French in 1921.

Four generations later, it is still run by the same family.

Its competitors in the category were Henley’s of Wivenhoe in Essex and Mike’s Traditional Fish & Chips in Hampshire.

The awards are judged by industry experts and have been running for more than 30 years.
