Two beaches in Norfolk have been named among the best in the country to visit this spring.

With the weather beginning to warm up and the Easter school holidays just around the corner, people are eyeing the top spots to take the family for a day out.

Holkham and Brancaster have been listed as two of the UK's warmest and brightest, ranked according to average temperature, rainy days and daylight hours.

Stretching three miles long and often considered the "jewel of the Norfolk coast", Holkham beach averages 15 hours of daylight each day and 12C temperatures between March and early June.

Brancaster beach scored the same and was noted for its "serene spring strolls" in rain or shine.

The beaches are featured among eight other popular tourist destinations which include Kynance Cove in Cornwall and Botany Bay in Kent.

They also appeared in last year's Times guide of the top 50 beaches in the UK.

Holkham beach was chosen as the best in the east, with its "mesmeric appeal" making it a "comfortable winner".
