Two people were rescued from a fishing boat which had run aground by lifeboat crews.

There were fears the windy weather caused by Storm Eleanor might hamper the recovery of the Valkyrie, which had broken its moorings, in Brancaster Harbour and make the operation hazardous.

As a result the Wells All Weather Lifeboat launched to the scene at 7.10pm after a request from UK Coastguard.

It arrived at the harbour entrance 30mins later and discovered the 27ft boat was hard aground, with little opportunity to re-float the vessel on the already fast flowing ebbing tide.

Two people on board the fishing boat managed to get off and the lifeboat left at 8.40pm, returning to Wells Harbour at 9.12pm.
