The team behind Fakenham Town Football Club's official website is getting ready to launch its latest initiative, offering charities the chance of more publicity.

From Sunday the online face of the Ghosts will feature a charity partner scheme - giving charities a chance to get their message out to its site visitors.

The club's webmaster Tony Miles said: "It's an idea that has been toyed with a while now, and it's great it's finally being put into action. Throughout the course of a season we get a lot of people visiting the club, and even more logging on to the website. If we can take advantage of that to help to promote charity work, both locally and nationally then it's something we're more than willing to do."

The first charity that the site will promote is Comic Relief, with Red Nose Day taking place on Friday, March 13.

"At this early stage, we have plenty of windows of opportunity open to charitable organisations, and we're more than willing to help where we can," he said.

"Obviously we're opening the scheme with Comic Relief, and there are a couple more names on the list later in the year, but there is still plenty of space at this time."

Charities will feature heavily on the club's website for the two-week partnership, and in any match programmes in that time as well as having a prominent display in the clubhouse. Where applicable a collection tin or donation station can be accommodated. After the two weeks, there will still be a link online to any relevant websites to keep the awareness going and the idea will initially run throughout 2009.

"The idea of supporting just one charity through the year was thrown around, but it was decided against because there are just so many that need the help it would be so difficult to choose. This way, we can help a lot more. At the end of the year, we'll assess how it's gone and hopefully be doing the same thing next year as well. Hopefully we can do our bit along the way."

Local charities have been approached with a view to picking their space, which could be made to tie in with any events they may have lined up.

"The facilities at Clipbush Park are amazing and if someone wanted to host a charity event here, then we could certainly try to accomodate them as best we can," said Mr Miles.
