Four Dereham students who are raising money to go on a humanitarian trip to Borneo say their fund-raising efforts are going well.

The pupils and a teacher from Neatherd High School will help to build schools, homes, and provide clean water to communities on the third largest island in the world, when they travel to Asia next summer.

The students, Heather Chant, Michael Dye, Amy Dunton and Louise Tooley must each raise 75pc of the funds needed for the trip themselves, so have wasted no time in devising money-making ventures.

The youngsters currently run a successful tuck-shop at school, have organised a bingo night and recently took part in the summer fete at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital.

Despite her fear of heights, Miss Chant, has also completed a sponsored climb of the O2 in London.
