A nursery worker is hoping to climb Everest to support children recovering from crime.
Climbing 17,000 feet or 5,000 metres, Hannah Baxter, 25, aims to raise money for the charity Embrace Child Victims of Crime, who supported 88 Norfolk children last year.
She will begin the ascent in November, along with a group of 12 police officers, charity supporters and childhood crime survivors. The journey will be filmed for a TV documentary to air in the spring.
Miss Baxter said: "I'm training with increasingly long walks along the Norfolk coast, and working out on the treadmill. I'm asthmatic too, so I have an extra mountain to climb - though I'll admit I'm struggling to find any decent hills nearby."
Fundraisers include a classical music evening at 7pm on October 19 at Fakenham Salvation Army hall, and a quiz night at the Community Centre on September 14, at 7pm. To contribute, visit justgiving.com/fundraising/hannahbaxterembrace.
