ANEW website has been launched to keep Fakenham film fans up to date with screenings and information at the town's Central Cinema.

Director Gary Stevens, who took over the building in January, said the online resource was created in response to customer demands.

As well as current film

times, the site at www.stevenscinemas.co.uk includes trailers for forthcoming features, competitions and a recruitment section.

Mr Stevens said: "I had received lots of requests to provide a facility like this. Customers can now see that changes are taking place, which is vital, especially as the cinema is pivotal and needs to grow with the community.

"We offer the ability to telephone book tickets for films in advance through our innovative ticketing system and, more significantly, in the future via our new website".

Mr Stevens spent more than 30 years working in the film industry before taking over the former Hollywood Cinema in the centre of Fakenham.

The building was constructed in 1855 as the Corn Hall and also served as a magistrates court and a library before it was converted into a 700-seat cinema in 1930.

Mr Stevens also wants the cinema to show the work of local film-makers and host private screenings for film societies and other groups, and has long-term plans to open a caf bar at the venue.
