A new event which aims to promote and celebrate everything good about Fakenham is rapidly gaining support.
The first Fakenham Fayre will see businesses, sports clubs, schools, emergency services and other organisations come together in the town centre.
It will be on Saturday, March 30, between 10am and 4pm, when the town’s Market Place will be closed to traffic.
Organiser Liam O’Sullivan, who owns Gallery Bistro, said: “I’ve had a lot of positive feedback while I’ve been out promoting the Fakenham Fayre.
“Many people are keen to get involved. People are pleased to see something positive happening in Fakenham.”
The event will feature live music and street food and businesses will have information stands, promoting some of the exciting career opportunities that exist in the town.
Mr O’Sullivan said: “Fakenham has some businesses who are world leaders in their fields. A lot of people don’t know that, but it’s something we should be proud of.
“We want to show people that they can stay in Fakenham and build careers here.”
Some of Fakenham’s biggest businesses have agreed to attend, including Bill Cleyndert & Company Ltd, Jack Richards & Son, PMC Harvesters Ltd, Kinnerton Confectionary, AOT Engineering and P4.
Representatives from Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets will be there and Fakenham Racecourse has shown an interest.
Mr O’Sullivan said: “It’s all about creating a fun environment and enabling people to see that Fakenham has a lot going for it.”
It is hoped the Fakenham Fayre will go on to become an annual event.
Meanwhile, Gallery Bistro is hosting a new event called Catch Up, on the evening of Thursday, March 7.
The event aims to create a relaxed and welcoming environment for people to socialise with friends.
Mr O’Sullivan said: “I think social media is having a negative impact on society and this is about encouraging people of all ages to come together and communicate in a more natural environment.”
Catch Up will be held twice a month.
