Active Fakenham, which is planning a range of activities for the town this year, is looking for people and groups to get involved.
The first major event will be the second Fakenham Showcase Day and Shopkeepers Olympics which will be held in the town centre on Saturday, May 2 (10am - 1pm).
Active Fakenham chairperson Richard Crook said:
“Last year’s event was a lot of fun with over one hundred volunteers offering tasters or demonstrating many of the activities which are available throughout the year.
“We had various dancing groups, martial arts performances, Zumba and lots more to watch or join in with. This year maybe we can make it bigger and better.”
On the same day will be the second Fakenham Shopkeepers Olympics, where the town will be divided into street teams competing over eleven challenges set by local clubs and businesses.
They range from golf, gym triathlon, table tennis, Pictionary, an obstacle course, beat the goalie, netball and rugby challenges and more. The finale will be the grand main street tug of war.
Richard added: “There will be opportunities for all ages and abilities. At the moment we are looking for clubs, businesses and individuals who want to join in by setting a challenge, having a stall, joining a team, putting on a performance, helping on the day or contributing in any other way.”
Anyone interested should contact Richard@activefakenham.org.uk or call 07887 803091.
