The history of one of Fakenham’s first pop groups is being told in a new book by a former band member and local historian.

Jim Baldwin now works as a historian and publisher but in the 1960s he hit the music scene as a member of the Electrons, where he performed in numerous concerns including at The Golden Years concerts, alongside bands such as The Jetblacks, The Offbeats, The Treetops and Cloud Nine.

Now he has written a new book that looks back at his time with the band, describing what it was like to be part of the music scene while Beatlemania was sweeping the country and how his life changed after the band split.

The book, titled It started as a hobby but…., will be published in February and sold online.

It is priced at £3 and profits will go to The Friends of The Stroke Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn. Order your copy.
