Pupils at a village school have been praised for their politeness, excellent behaviour and good manners.

The pupils of Hindringham Primary School were given the pat on the back by Ofsted inspectors following their recent visit.

In a report, lead inspector Richard Cheetham said: “I came away with a lasting impression of how outstandingly well you enjoy school and how excellently behaved and polite your are.”

The school also won praise for its promotion of healthy lifestyles leading to pupils' high uptake of sporting opportunities and their enjoyment of healthy school meals.”

The pupils' personal development is also highlighted in the report.

“Pupils' personal development is good and their behaviour and enjoyment of school life are outstanding.

“They develop very positive attitudes to learning because their engagement in its rich curriculum builds confidence and self-esteem.”

Lunchtime is one of the high points of the school day and the pupils enjoy freshly-cooked meals from its own kitchen.

School cook Mrs Bacon says she works hard to provide tasty and nutritious meals.

“I always try to introduce flavours and dishes to the children - this term's favourite has been chicken or vegetable korma, and I'm told my home-made pasties are the best on the planet!”

The Ofsted report, together with impressive SATs results, have combined to put the school in the top five per cent of all primary schools in Norfolk.

Headteacher Sue du Bois said everyone at the school was delighted with the report.

“It represents real progress for us as a school and clearly demonstrates that our children really enjoy the education Hindringham school has to offer,” she said.
