Kayakers paddle past bin lorry stopped by high tide on the north Norfolk coast

A bin lorry driving along a coastal road found himself confronted by an unusual form of traffic coming from the opposite direction.
The vehicle was travelling along the beach road at Brancaster when it was forced to stop by standing water on the carriageway from this morning’s (Wednesday, August 15) tidal flow.
Also making their way along the route was a group of kayakers, who are normally restricted to the flooded marshes nearby.
The scene echoed a similar one in Blakeney yesterday, when a kayaker took to The Quay, a orad which runs alongside the River Glaven, as it had also been flooded by the high tide.
According to the tide calendar, this morning’s high tide at Blakeney Bar was due to be 5.96 metres at 9.54am.
