People living in or near Fakenham can take advantage of a free learning advice and guidance service coming to the town for the first time.

The service, offered by North Norfolk's Learning for Everyone initiative, brings expert, confidential one-to-one information, advice and guidance sessions to anyone wanting to boost their career options or find a new direction.

To launch the service, a free event is being held on Monday (May 19) at Fakenham Community Centre, in partnership with Norfolk Adult Education. The drop-in event will run from 2.30-6.30pm and includes a host of activities and demonstrations.

"We hope there will be something for everyone", said Denise Treissman from Learning for Everyone. "For instance, you could make a delicious and nutritious smoothie using your own pedal power on a Blenda Bike, have a go at salsa dancing or try your hand at computing, digital photography or wine-tasting. You can also find out about a range of other things from butterflies and moths to business administration!"

Representatives from other organisations including Meridian East and Voluntary Norfolk will also be on hand and there will be a chance for people to book one-to-one appointments with specialist advisers to explore directions they might take to improve their career prospects, brush up old skills and develop new ones.

Learning for Everyone Project Manager John Morgan said, "We're very excited to be able to bring the advice and guidance service to Fakenham. It's been very popular in Cromer and Sheringham where we've been running for several years. We've recently launched in Stalham with a similar event enjoyed by over 100 people, and with the service offered in Wells, North Walsham and Holt too, we're now covering all seven towns in North Norfolk. The launch event will be an ideal opportunity for people to find out what we can offer them."

One-to-one appointments with advisers can be booked by calling 01263 519454.
