A long-running concert band is set to perform in north Norfolk to help raise money for the RNLI.
The Lewisham Concert Band will appear at St Nicholas Parish Church in Wells at an event organised by the RNLI Lifeboat Guild.
Founded in 1967 and conducted for many years by the late Joseph Proctor, the Lewisham Concert Band found fame following numerous BBC Radio 2 broadcasts during the 70s and 80s on Friday Night is Music Night and Listen to the Band. It is now under the musical direction of John Hargreaves.
The concert will feature pieces by composers including Handel, Strauss, Malcolm Arnold, and Eric Coates, as well as items such as the theme from the Onedin Line and Sleepy Lagoon (from Desert Island Discs).
The concert is on Saturday October 20 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.50 and are available in advance from Martin’s, Goldings and the Post Office in Wells, or can be purchased on the door. There will also be a bar.
The event is sponsored by David Jagger Ltd and Scira Wind Farms.
