A fisherman was rescued by Wells lifeboat crew today after suffering a hand injury while working at sea.

The lifeboat launched at 10.35am and despite there being very little water in the channel, the crew managed to navigate their way to open water through the shallows to ferry the fisherman ashore.

The casualty was transferred to the RNLI's eight-wheeled vehicle, which is used for beach work when the tide is out.

He was met by the coastguard and an ambulance which were standing by.

As the tide had completely ebbed, the lifeboat was recovered in Holkham Bay.
