SILENCE IN COURT! Fledgling legal eagles took the law into their own hands during a mock court trial at their school. Thirty Fakenham High School pupils took part in a Street Law workshop run by University of East Anglia law degree students, designed to educate teenagers about the legal system.

The students and their mentors played the roles of barristers, witnesses, judge and jury to try a schoolboy accused of breaking a youngster's arm in a fight.

But, although the case was fictional, it gave the pupils - all nominated by their subject teachers for the school's "gifted and talented" programme - an insight into the potential consequences of everyday actions.

Tierney Tindall, 14 - seen here (right) with the judge, played by Freya Danby - took on the role of a prosecution barrister. She said: "It has given us the experience of what a real trial would be like. Because I am at school I can relate to it. People get in fights all the time, maybe not as serious as this, but it shows it could happen and anyone could easily end up in court."
