A woman has suffered serious injuries after her car overturned on the outskirts of Fakenham.

Emergency services were called to Fakenham Road, near Lamb Lane, shortly before 10am on Friday morning following reports that a single vehicle had overturned.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said the woman had suffered ‘a serious hand injury’ but it is not thought to be life-threatening.

She was airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by the East Anglian Air Ambulance for further care.

The road was closed and diversions were put in place while the vehicle was being recovered.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said those diversions have now being lifted.

Police urged drivers to take care on the roads after icy conditions on Friday morning resulted in 37 crashes across Norfolk. A further 14 were reported in Suffolk.
