A camp site in Burnham Deepdale has announced dates for a number of musical events that will be coming to North Norfolk this year.

The events will take place at the Deepdale Backpackers & Camping site and will include the second Deepdale Festival, which was first held in 2017 and attracted more than 400 guests.

The musical events will begin at the end of January with a poetry and storytelling performance, titled John Peel’s Shed, which will see John Osbourne tell the story of the records he won from the famous BBC radio presenter.

Similar performances, dubbed the Sunday Sessions, will continue on the third Sunday of most months throughout the year.

The first festival-style event will take place in March with Deepdale Hygge, an event which celebrates the north Norfolk coast through live music, camp fires, walks, cycling and stargazing.

It will all be leading up to the site’s biggest fixture, the Deepdale Festival. Taking place on the last week of September, the festival will host a wide range of live music performances complemented by drum jams, street entertainment and story telling.

“We always knew that Deepdale had the potential to be a great music venue, a ‘build it and they will come’ location,” said Chris Haycock, operations director and the primary music promoter at Deepdale.

“Sitting in the backpackers’ courtyard in October last year under clear skies with the fire pits burning and Falling From Trees entertaining over 70 people, we knew that the first year of Deepdale’s music programme had been far more successful than we could have hoped.

“There were other moments in the year when we knew we were barking up the right tree, and Deepdale Festival was certainly one of those.

“The crowd for Jess Morgan’s set on the Orchard Stage and the dancing in the Brick Barn during Little Red Kings headlining set will live long in the memory. Now artists know more about the style of what we offer and the location, we are getting more and more enquiries, so developing the 2018 programme is going to be a joy.”
