A new play set in wartime Norfolk is set to explore the relationship between an American airman and the members of a farming family who welcome him into their home.
It has been penned by playwright and former Paston College tutor Rob John for the north Norfolk-based fEast Theatre.
It tells the story of brash, garrulous, charming 2nd Lt Jimmy Finch, a navigator on a B24 Liberator heavy bomber, with a limitless supply of oranges and chewing gum.
He is welcomed into the Cubitts' home, but are his intentions honourable and will his arrival damage the fragile relationships of the family at Box Farm?
Parachute is aimed a being a funny, thought-provoking and moving play set at a time when the fields of Norfolk became the front line in a global conflict.
By the end of 1944 the majority of the 426,000 US airmen in Britain were stationed in Norfolk and Suffolk which had become a mosaic of airfields.
Mr John, from Antingham, said: 'It is a love story and social history from a time when the fields of Norfolk were in the front line of a global conflict.'
Jimmy Finch is played by Robin McLoughlin, Walter Cubitt by Owen Evans from the Nimmo Twins, his wife Margy by Dawn Finnerty and daughter Lilian by Tabitha Woodgett.
It is the same cast who featured in fEast Theatre's previous production drawing on Norfolk history, The Canada Boys, based on the true story of a group of workers at the world famous Colman's mustard factory who sought a new life on the other side of the Atlantic.
The company aims to create and tour new work which examines themes, characters and narratives which resonate with East Anglian people.
