A north Norfolk home and interiors shop has been voted best in its category by a national newspaper awards scheme.

Big Blue Sky in Wells won Best for Home in the local shop category of the Telegraph Magazine Shop Awards 2009.

The winners were announced at an awards event in London last Tuesday, November 17.

Readers of the paper were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite shops with seven categories for national and online retailers and, for the first time, three categories for local, independent shops: - best for fashion; best for home; and best for food and drink.

Mary Portas, shop reviewer for The Telegraph Magazine, said: “We are delighted to present this award to Big Blue Sky.

“Shoppers have voted for this inspiring seaside store due to its excellent customer service, quirky and unique products and welcoming shopping environment.

“What brings people back time and time again is the fact that they know they will find something there that they won't find anywhere else.”

Catherine Edgington, who founded Big Blue Sky in 2003, said: “Big Blue Sky is absolutely delighted to have won this award and thanks everyone who voted for us.”

Big Blue Sky sells a wide range of locally produced home furnishings, books, cards, toys, jewellery and ceramics.
