Ofsted success for Little Snoring Primary School

Staff and pupils at a Norfolk primary school are celebrating after Ofsted inspectors applauded the school's rapid improvement.

Little Snoring Primary School, near Fakenham, was given an overall "good" rating - a grade higher than the "satisfactory" judgement received at its last inspection in March 2007.

Little Snoring Primary School, near Fakenham, was given an overall “good” rating - a grade higher than the “satisfactory” judgement received at its last inspection in March 2007.

Inspectors praised the “sense of purpose” of the school's leadership, the efforts made to safeguard children and the curriculum opportunities given across a challenging 4-11 age range.

The turnaround has been achieved with a new three-strong teaching team - whose longest-serving member only joined the school last January - led by acting headteacher Teresa Osborne.

The report says: “Little Snoring Primary is a good school which has improved since the last inspection and continues to do so under the enthusiastic leadership of the acting headteacher.”

Mrs Osborne said she was delighted with the report, which reflected the dedication of the whole school community.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted that the school has got this rating after so much hard work.

“We are a new team and we have gelled together well, and that was recognised. But there are also non-teaching staff who have been here a long time, and all the key members of staff are good at what they do. We all had a vision of what we wanted to achieve. It is really a team effort.”

The report says the provision for the school's outdoor curriculum was limited, which meant children had insufficient opportunities to develop their independent learning skills. But Mrs Osborne said the school was already working to correct this by making more effective use of its outdoor learning area.
