Wells Community Hospital will open its doors next week to show visitors the diverse range of clinical and healthcare services available in their neighbourhood.

The summer Public Open Day gives people the chance to see the facilities created by the community at the site of the former Wells Cottage Hospital.

Health chiefs closed the wards in 2004 but the building was reopened as a “Community Venture” in September 2006 after a spirited public campaign.

Since then the hospital has forged partnerships with the NHS, independent agencies and clinicians to create wide-ranging services including acupuncture and holistic manipulation - which will be demonstrated at the open day.
