There may not be enough room for a full five-kilometre circuit, but plans to establish a new junior Parkrun are on track.

A bid to start a junior Parkrun was unanimously accepted by Fakenham Town Council in a meeting on Tuesday.

The council felt there was no public park big enough for an adult Parkrun on council land in the town, but a two-kilometre junior Parkrun could be held on the fields of Trap Lane.

The field there has already been approved to be used by Fakenham Cricket Club in their next season, so runners would have to circle the boundary of the cricket field.

The council was approached by a representative of Parkrun to fill a hole in their coverage of the county. Currently, the nearest Parkrun to Fakenham is at Holkham Hall, and there are only four junior Parkruns in the county.

Those setting up the Parkrun will have to raise £3,000 for registration before it can begin.
