Breckland police are asking the public if anyone has lost a prosthetic limb, after one was found at the club and handed into the station.

In a tweet, from Thursday, October 24, @BrecklandPolice asked: “Anyone in Dereham lost a prosthetic limb?

“We have one at the police station that has been found by a member of the public!”

After receiving enquiries from several perplexed Twitter users, the police tweeted again, three hours later, saying: “Essentially a prosthetic leg was found at the Rugby Club and handed in to our front office a couple of days ago.”

Andrew Mash, secretary of Dereham Rubgy Club, described the incident as “very strange”.

Mr Mash added: “This is the first I’ve heard of it.”

The Norfolk prosthetics service said all limbs are issued with serial numbers.

They advised police to return the item to the clinic to help trace its owner.
