The development brief covering proposals for 900 new homes to be built on land north of Fakenham will stop short of recommending road closures.

North Norfolk councillors will next week discuss views expressed during the latest round of public consultation on the document, which will form a blueprint for future development.

A report to the council’s planning working party says objections in principle will not be considered, because the site, north of Rudham Stile lane, is already earmarked for development.

But it adds access to the site remains one of the main causes for objection, admitting: “The road network is entirely unsuiitable as a means of access for up to 900 dwellings.”

It says the site should not be accessed from existing residential streets, such as Rudham Stile Lane, but road closures should not be included to allow developers “flexibility”.

Councillors discuss the report on Monday.
