Rubbish claims at site

As the debate continues into the provision of a temporary site for travellers on the outskirts of Fakenham the town's action group formed to fight the proposals has come up with new evidence in support of its case.
Eric Myhill, of the Action Group, has given The Times photographs of the mess he claims was left by the travellers after their recent stay on the site off the A148 which they have just left.
The pictures, taken by a member of the Group, shows rubbish and debris scattered over the site which is beside one of the main approach routes into Fakenham.
“The travellers in five caravans left the site on Monday having been there since before Christmas and these picture show the mess and rubbish they left behind. It is this sort of thing that we have been saying at public meetings when the proposed new site is being discussed,” said Mr Myhill.
He said he was taking the pictures to Tuesday's meeting of the Fakenham Town Council for members to have a look at.
“This clearly shows the amount of rubbish these people leave behind and someone will have to be paid to clear it up. I will be contacting the relevant department at North Norfolk District Council to ensure they know that the mess has been left. But they should clear up their own mess and not leave us to do their dirty work for them,” he said.

Public consultation has been continuing regarding the proposed site for a temporary travellers' site on the outskirts of Fakenham and a site on the outskirts of Cromer. Formal planning applications are likely to be submitted later this year/
A number of public meetings have been held in Fakenham when the issue over the controversial proposals have been debated. A public referendum held in Fakenham last year showed an overwhelming majority of residents eligible to vote are against the proposals for the site identified in Fakenham.
