A Sea Cadet unit in Wells is bidding for a major cash boost from Tesco’s community funding scheme.
The youth group is among a number of groups on a shortlist, which will be considered for funding from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.
The scheme is a collaborative effort between Tesco and Groundwork which raises money through carrier bag sales and provides grants of up to £4,000 to community projects.
The decision on which group receives the grant is down to shoppers who can cast their votes for the Sea Cadets at the store in Fakenham throughout March and April.
Noel Wheatley, chairman of Wells Sea Cadets, said: “We really appreciate Tesco’s help with this venture and hope that Tesco shoppers will support our project.”
Tesco’s head of community, Alec Brown, said his community team is “delighted” to open the voting and called the shortlisted projects “fantastic”.
