Sometimes life can throw up unexpected obstacles, and families with poorly children will know all too well the struggles many can face.

But one photographer from mid-Norfolk is hoping to make a difference to those affected by illness after launching a new initiative to capture special memories.

Shellie Wall, newborn and baby photographer, has created Sunshine and Rainbows for children who have medical struggles in their life.

The free photography package offers a portrait session and edited images on a USB, specifically for babies and young people who may be requiring a lot of medical attention, undergoing operations, receiving special care for life, or may be terminally ill.

The mother-of-three lives in Yaxham, near Dereham, and has been working as a photographer since 2009. She explained why she wanted to give families this opportunity.

“Sometimes life just isn’t fair and throws up immense obstacles for children that they and their families have to overcome,” she said.

“We’d just like to offer the opportunity to have some beautiful memories captured that can be treasured forever.”

Mrs Wall has set up a Just Giving page to raise £2,000 towards setting up the not-for-profit initiative to help life threatened or life limited babies and young children.

She added: “We aren’t miracle workers and we don’t have magical cures, however, we feel there is a little something that we can do, that, although is small in the grand scheme of things, may actually help to provide a little respite from the dark reality that sometimes clouds those who are struggling.

“Sunshine and rainbows come after even the worst storms, if we can help people to have a break and a fun relaxed session that brings smiles even for a short time, and let a little brightness back into their lives, then we will be happy.”

Mrs Wall is urging anyone who thinks they meet the criteria to contact her to arrange a photo shoot.
