Heartbeats were pounding at the fourth annual Easter Sunday Fun Day in Fakenham, which organisers have declared was the best such event in its four-year history.
Up to 3,000 people flooded into the town centre to watch or take part in a series of races on bicycles and foot.
A 5km race drew top club runners and those just trying to improve their fitness, while a 1km fun run involved more than 150 children.
Richard Crook, from organisers Active Fakenham, said it was the most successful Easter event they had ever held.
Mr Crook said: “The youngest participant was one and the oldest was 79.
“It has all gone really well and we've had more entries than ever before.
“The event is about well-being, but it's also about promoting Fakenham and showcasing its businesses, clubs and facilities, and giving people a chance to get out and enjoy themselves.”
Mr Crook said the fastest time recorded in the 5km race was about 16 minutes, and the slowest was 45 minutes.
He added: “We also did a little race for the under fives. Some of them were on pushbikes and trikes and some of them ran it with their parents, or ran it on their own.
“Then we had some cycle racing, and that drew everyone from elite riders to local club riders - there has been something for all ages and abilities.”
There was also a bouncy castle, stalls, goodie bag giveaways for children and stands run by sports clubs including the local canoe club and rugby club.
The fun day was live-streamed via Facebook for the first time, and Mr Crook said his son had even been watching in Mexico.
He said he was thrilled with the overall turnout.
Mr Crook said: “We've had thousands of people into the town, and 50-60 volunteers out there giving up their Easter Sunday to make it all a success.”
He said the fun day would return next year.
Mr Crook said: “It takes a long time to plan and it involves a lot of people but it's worth it.”
