Norwich United can take another giant step towards retaining their Premier Division crown by seeing off one of the chasing pack's top sides.

The Planters have been streets ahead of the rest in the Eastern Counties set-up's top-flight for the best part of 18 months and look near certainties to lift the title again. But Felixstowe & Walton United will have other ideas as they aim to head a small list of teams that still have a chance, albeit a small one, of ending the dominance of Damian Hilton's men. The Seasiders have been second for most of the campaign but welcome the table-toppers having dropped to third through recent inactivity. While they may have two games in hand on Norwich, Felixstowe are already a huge 15 points behind them.

With the Planters not having been beaten before Christmas, anything less than a home triumph today is likely to keep the challengers' slim hopes of league silverware alive.

Kirkley & Pakefield, sixth, sit a tad further down the table but will be looking for a maximum return when they entertain Walsham-le-Willows this afternoon.

A K&P win would provide a boost for relegation-threatened duo Fakenham Town and Thetford Town with the Willows now second from bottom.

Fakenham are in for an even tougher test themselves when they open their doors to Godmanchester Rovers – a side they were hammered 5-0 by earlier this campaign.

Four points from their last two matches, the second of which came under the returning management of Wayne Anderson, have lifted the Ghosts' spirits somewhat though as they try to avoid the dreaded drop.

In the First Division, another club under new stewardship – Downham Town – will be looking to boost morale and end a poor run which has seen them get dragged down the table. Since the departure of Bob Warby, and short tenure of Lewis Thompson, Pav Guziejko has overseen six defeats in a row ahead of a trip to AFC Sudbury Reserves, sixth.

Elsewhere, there's a huge promotion showdown between second and third as Ely City host Great Yarmouth Town.

King's Lynn Town Reserves, fourth – boosted by the midweek signing of Chatteris Town frontman Craig Gillies – travel to bottom side Needham Market's second-string, Diss Town host Stowmarket Town and Dereham Town Reserves visit March Town United.

In the United Counties League Premier Division, Wisbech Town boss Brett Whaley comes up against the club he left to join the Fenmen when his side host Yaxley.

Thetford came out on top in an eight-goal thriller at Mundford Road last night, beating Newmarket Town 5-3. Town went 2-0 up early on, were 3-2 down at the break and then scored three times in the second period to pick up three important points in their battle against the drop. The goals were scored by Robbie Priddle (2), Sam Bond, Ryan Pearson and Shaun Hunsdon.
