A donation has been made to a hospital trust in Norfolk to go towards an outreach gardening programme.

The Wells Community Hospital Trust has received £5,000 for the outreach programme, which is delivered by the Nurture Project, a group that uses horticulture to improve the mental health of its participants.

The grant was sent from the Santander Foundation through a scheme known as Discovery Grants, which provides funding to charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.

“This grant will support our vision for the local community by making a real difference to those living with mental health difficulties. Without the Discovery Grant this would not have been possible,” said Samantha Taylor, general manager at Wells Community Hospital Trust.

Peter Lewis, branch manager at Santander’s Kings Lynn branch, said: “We are committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Wells Community Hospital Trust, and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
