Village’s popular scarecrow festival returns for bank holiday weekend

A popular scarecrow festival is returning to north Norfolk this weekend.

The annual Wighton Scarecrow Festival takes place over the bank holiday weekend from May 4-6

A festival organiser and spokesperson for the free event said: “Visitors are welcome to stroll around the village looking at the creations and completing the competitions, as well as choosing their favourite scarecrows.”

Refreshments will be served in the village hall from 10am till 5pm. A community breakfast will be offered on Sunday from 9am till 11am.

Competition, voting slips, box and quiz forms will also be available from the village hall.

Children's craft activities will take place on Saturday afternoon and the children's scarecrow-making on Sunday from 2.30pm on the common - as well as live scarecrow meets and a tractor ride.

Information about proposals for a new village hall will also be avaialble.
