Alderman Peel High School and the North Norfolk School Sport Partnership hosted their very first show jumping competition at the weekend.

Over 50 show jumpers from eight high school teams competed in a Christmas competition hosted by Lime Kiln Farm Equestrian Centre in Thursford.

Kirsty Downs, PE teacher and school sports co-ordinator from Alderman Peel HS, wanted to provide an opportunity for local riders to compete.

She said: “This competition was very successful and has been a result of our equestrian development plan. Without the key support from the School Sport Partnership, our young show jumpers would not have had this opportunity”

Gill Barham, regional development co-ordinator from the British Equestrian Federation, with Alastair Ogle, head teacher from Alderman Peel, presented some of the prizes.

Alderman Peel won the 2.9 Santa Claus is Coming to Town Open. The team was Holy Mathias, Daisy Taylor, Kyra Welch and Morgana Welch (pictured left).

Thanks went to Lime Kiln Farm, and all staff and volunteers who supported the event to make it a big success.

The next North Norfolk Schools show jumping event will be at Easter, visit www.northnorfolkschoolsport.co.uk for more details.
