Fakenham Town Reserves will still be part of Anglian Combination football next season after an unfortunate misunderstanding was resolved.

A tentative enquiry was made about removing the Ghosts’ second-string from Division Three – which caused embarrassment after it was suggested on social media that Fakenham had pulled out of the set-up, more commonly known as the Ang Comb.

And while that question being asked almost saw Fakenham lose their place, the matter has now been resolved and the Ghosts will fulfil their league obligations when the new season kicks off in August.

That good news was only boosted when Clipbush Park officials announced that there will be a new man at the helm to take the club’s reserve team forward.

Ghosts chiefs were delighted to welcome Trevor Daniels to the fold – a coach that brings with him a wealth of non-league experience spanning more than 13 years.

Having played previously for Kings Lynn, Downham Town and Dersingham Rovers, he turned to coaching when his playing career was cut short by injury.

His rise began in 2003 in Sheffield, where he had also previously played, and Rotherham schools, and a six-month stint in America followed where he gained experience coaching football to age groups from under-fives right up to senior men’s level.

Development also forms a big part of Daniels’ coaching qualifications and he will be a huge asset to the club (and its youth set-up) having previously worked as a coach for Cambridge United and Peterborough United.

He now works delivering high-quality physical education (PE) in schools.

Daniels will also be available to assist the first-team management duo of Wayne Anderson and assistant Neil Jarvis, and with the under-18s, also managed by Jarvis.

Training sessions ahead of the new season have already begun, and anyone interested in potentially joining the club can get in contact with individual managers via e-mail.

For the first team contact wayneanderson@fakenhamtownfc.co.uk or neiljarvis@fakenhamtownfc.co.uk (also under-18s).

For the reserves you should e--mail either trevordaniels@fakenhamtownfc.co.uk or kristianjones@fakenhamtownfc.co.uk

In other news, tickets are still available for the high-profile pre-season friendlies against development squads from Premier League champions Leicester City and recently relegated top-flight Norwich City.

The match against the title-winning Foxes’ side will be played on Wednesday July 20 (7pm kick-off) while the Canaries will visit three days later in a fixture that gets under way at 3pm.

The early-bird ticket offer has now finished so entry will cost adults £8 and children £4.

Tickets can be bought via www.fakenhamtownfc.co.uk/tickets – although entry is available on the day.

The option to receive match tickets in the post is open to those supporters that wish to do so. But an additional postal charge will be added to the order.
